Consolidating its position as an emerging player in the industry, New York metro-based Phoenix International Business Logistics, Inc. has just opened a branch office in the Chicago metro area to service the nation’s largest convention center and expand global business.

Located in Elk Grove Village, the new Phoenix branch office is under the direction of Frank Rettig, who brings 20 years of international freight forwarding experience to the company.

The former USA Manager of Panalpina, Inc. and also past President of Atlanta-based LION Exhibition Freight, Rettig was recruited to develop new business in the Chicago-area trade show market and is also responsible for servicing present Phoenix customers at the global level.

Commenting on his company’s new Chicago branch office, Phoenix President Phil Hobson says: “The decision to invest in the new office of Phoenix International Business Logistics was driven by the overwhelming demand from our existing U.S and international customers as well as by the fact that Chicago’s McCormack Place is the nation’s largest convention center and is getting larger.”

With three state-of-the-art exhibition buildings featuring a combined total exhibit space square footage in excess of 2.2 million, McCormick Place is in the process of adding a fourth hall to accommodate the growing number of trade show organizers, exhibitors, convention and meeting planners that represent Phoenix’s core constituency. McCormick Place currently attracts more than four million trade and public show visitors a year.

“Frank Rettig’s rich operations experience has allowed Phoenix to begin servicing events at McCormick Place and nearby Rosemont immediately,” says Hobson.

Phoenix is a fully licensed international freight forwarder and U.S. Customhouse Broker specializing in shipping and onsite logistics for trade shows, corporate meetings, and other special events. Phoenix coordinates show site operations, arranges for all freight transportation services, processes U.S. Customs clearances, and prepares export documentation.

As one of the few trade show freight forwarders with a customs license, Phoenix organizes onsite logistics in addition to processing the customs clearances and export documentation. This dual qualification, supported by global resources that include offices, partnerships and agency agreements throughout the world, enables Phoenix to provide customs clearances services and timely delivery of freight in a way that maximizes efficiencies of time and cost.
